In my first post about the term ACE IT, I discussed the first element for singing any song: accuracy. Once you have mastered the accurate singing of notes, words, and breath spots, the next element begins to creep into your singing. That’s where the letter C comes in.

The mindful breath

We have all heard our directors, coaches, and music educators speak of the importance of breathing correctly when we sing. We go through exercises during warm-ups each week to reinforce that notion. We hope that the repetition will translate into the songs that we sing. Unfortunately, that doesn’t often happen.
